Because You All Need Constant Updates From Me

Sun Dec 13, 2009, 10:56 PM
First, I'd love if someone would get me more subscription months to DA. I really like having those, but I'm a poor college student.

Second, you should all go visit my favorite oekaki here: [link]

Third, Hayley Williams is pretty hot, Mythbusters is a probably my favorite show, and Taco Bell food is delicious.

Fourth, I was given the vague goal of obtaining some kind of "Japan-related" job by my advisor, so I guess if any of you need someone to do something Japanese-y, I'm your man... apparently.

Fifth, Dark Heresy is a really fun game. Mutants & Masterminds on the other hand just seems so broken that I can't get it to work, and if anyone could enlighten me to how you make that playable, that would be great, thanks.

Sixth, if you're having trouble beating dragons in Dragon Age, use an all-ranged party.

Seventh, for some inexplicable reason my earbuds generate waaaaay more bass than any speakers that I've ever heard. I can hear something vibrating and I think that's my skull.

  • Mood: Hysterical
  • Listening to: Lady Gaga
  • Reading: Dark Heresy rulebook
  • Watching: Family Guy, Kung Fu Hustle (don't judge)
  • Playing: Dragon Age
  • Eating: Sweet Onion Chips
  • Drinking: Mountain Dew: Voltage

Hey, remember that one time I was born?

Yeah, that was like... a bunch of years ago on October 9th (that's this Friday... unless you're reading this journal after then... which you probably are... maybe).

So yeah, if any of you want to give me some more DA subscription, that'd rock. If not, well... meh. Gift art's always cool too, though I know I'm a bastard for telling you what I want like... 2 days in advance.

Genuine apologies to the chans (especially /co/ and /tg/). I was searching for preggy pix on DA today and... well when you have to wade through 5 pages of my drawings before anything else, I can totally see how that'd get old fast. Still, I'm probably going to continue throwing drawings onto DA so uh... well, honestly as long as you put in more search terms than just "pregnant + anime" you should be fine.

On an unrelated note, GET YE OEKAKI! Yeah, the dude who runs the oekaki I draw at still wants more people there... I think. Anyway, you can check it out here: [link]

Ok, that's enough stuff you might genuinely care about. Now it's time for me to rant about random games for no reason.

So I beat Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 as both pro and anti-reg. It was honestly really fun, if a bit short. One of my friends said it's hard to follow if you didn't know some stuff about the Marvel Civil War beforehand, but I don't know. You get to be Gambit and Deadpool in this one, and that's all that matters. :P

Once Star Trek Online comes out, I need to look into that game. I love Star Trek, but a lot of Trekkies bug the hell out of me, so I do plan on finding an RP server and just being an asshole for a little bit. If at all possible I'll make all my crew green British soccer punks, paint my ship red, and show the Klingons a propa' WAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

  • Mood: Hysterical
  • Listening to: Tegan and Sara, KMFDM, DTOYY
  • Reading: textbooks

Unimportant Ramblings

Ok first, my oekaki loves getting new members and stuff, so you should check them out. It's a fun place to draw. [link]

That said... I can move on to talking about pen & paper RPGs again.

So I'm looking at Star Wars Saga edition now, and I kinda like the look of it. It really just looks like wizards kinda mashed all their other RPGs together, although not in a bad way. I haven't actually played it yet though, so can anyone tell me anything about it?

Also, my regular D&D group is thinking they want to go back to 3.5 or maybe try out Pathfinder. I haven't played Pathfinder yet, so I could use some info on that too. It looks really easy to powergame, like even easier than 3.5, but maybe I'm reading it all wrong.

Finally, anyone know when Rogue Trader (the 40K roleplay like Dark Heresy) comes out?

Promotions of the Shameless Kind

HEY YOU! Yeah, you.

You know what really awesome oekaki site you should draw at? This one: [link] Because Elsewhere is awesome.

Also, Eire still needs to refer people to this stuff for cool lootz: [link] So just... make a random account with a useless hotmail or yahoo address or something!

That is all.

  • Mood: Hysterical
  • Listening to: Does It Offend You, Yeah?
  • Reading: Mutants & Masterminds rulebook
  • Watching: Johnny Depp movies
  • Playing: Fallout 3 (melee character this time)
  • Eating: nachos

Kazuv talks about pen & paper RPGs

First, who loves my friend, Eire? You do! How much do you love him? Enough to make a random account you may or may not care about at this site: [link] so he can get goodies.

That said, I've been playing a lot of premade adventures for pen & paper RPGs lately. You know, Dungeons & Dragons, World of Darkness, all those. I get the impression that a lot of premades are just meant to give plot ideas to the guy running the game. There's not a lot of explanation in those things for what to do if and when the players do something totally unexpected.

It seems like a lot of premade adventures weren't even playtested. My friends and I ran through one premade campaign recently where it said to have everyone (including the guy who secretly betrays you and turns out to be the main villain) to make checks to see if they could get across this rickety bridge without falling into the lava and dying. Well... the villain didn't make it, and he died in the fiery molten rock in like the 2nd scene in the whole adventure. So... what happens then? Game over, you win? The book just didn't say. It didn't plan for what would happen if you did exactly what it told you to do.

That said, D&D and WoD premades still seem to be good overall. D&D excells with well-made combat encounters, while WoD is better at storyline progression. It's more the less well-known RPG systems that have problems making decent premade campaigns. Still, they tend to be useful for giving the storyteller some ideas, if nothing else.

Wow. I just wasted all of your time. Like... you could've been looking at a youtube video of Welsh corgi puppies instead of reading this. I'm almost ashamed. Oh well.

And just in case I forget, I draw my oekakis here: [link]
